NaNoWriMo…again
Oh yes I did. I signed up to NaNoWriMo again, despite last year’s mini meltdown and subsequent failure to “win”. I have had a title rolling around in my head for several months and am slowly coming towards an idea of what I want to do with it.
For those who don’t know, NaNoWriMo is a challenge to write a novel in a month. More specifically, the aim is to write a 50,000 word first draft of a novel within the month of November. It is a fantastic impetus for people like me who think of themselves as writers but let those pesky day jobs prevent us from doing any (or much) actual creative writing. As I seem to be a bit rubbish at doing much reading lately, maybe now’s a good time to get my writer head on. We’ll soon see…
This sounds like an interesting challenge … hadn’t heard of it. thanks
Oh, yes NaNoWriMo. I won in 2010 and I happily decided once was enough for me – I lived on coffee that entire month! I found it worked really well for me though, pushing me to stop being an insane perfectionist with no word count to show for it and the conversation on the NaNo boards was a great boost for me. Good luck for this year. 🙂
I think I am going to join but as a way to get blog content written rather than for writing a novel.
Yes, I’m back too! I “won” last year, but this year I’m focusing on quality, over quantity. Or so I think. I’m preparing already…
Alex Thank you!
Judith Preparing? Show-off! But seriously, good luck.
